EXCLUSIVE: Henry Cavill Films U.N.C.L.E. At London Docklands

Filming is wrapping up tonight at the London Docklands set of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. - but Henry and Armie Hammer actually finished their work there early Friday morning, after a week of boat chases, gunfire and awesome stunts. marliimarl_ was there to watch it all, and now she's brought us this exclusive report, pictures and videos of the last night on set for Henry. The film is wrapping in a few weeks, so it looks like this may have been the last chance to see Solo out and about. Enjoy!

marliimarl_: It started out being very slow on the set, I was almost worried they would not be shooting that day and I was thinking of leaving as it was super cold and it had gotten super late. I entertained myself by taking ‘mood’ shots of the set, hoping and praying I’d get to see some action. Little did I know of what was in store for me..without exaggerating, probably one of the coolest things I will ever see in my life!

marliimarl_: I noticed a little row of neatly parked retro cars that I haven’t seen used before. They removed these a bit later on so glad I got a shot.

marliimarl_: Suddenly I saw a little grey boat come whizzing out. The same boat I had seen a few nights before, where Solo made the jump! Now we’re talking, I thought. However, although I was happy to see Armie, it was’t really him I was out freezing my butt of for. He was taking the boat for a spin, and I remember thinking, “geez, he looks like a grandpa driving that boat’. Remind me to eat my words later.

marliimarl_: Armie disappeared and they were setting up something that I couldn’t make sense of. They did a nice little practice run, without any actors but with sound effects, as if just to show me what they had planned to do. Perfect timing!

marliimarl_: I had no idea what or who was going to appear later though, I prepared myself for a night of Armie driving around like a grandpa. I think it’s time to show you something interesting and stop teasing you. Italian boat with guns! We are apparently suddenly in Italy, bye bye Berlin!

marliimarl_: Boats were driven into position, little water scooter, rescue boat, Italian boat and then my eyes rested on the little grey boat again…HEY WAIT A MINUTE, I CAN SEE TWO PEOPLE IN THE BOAT! Then it dawned on me. Armie and Henry were in the same boat!!!

Yes, better believe it, hold on to your hats! Super sexy spy Solo, being shot at during a high speed chase!!!

marliimarl_: At first when I saw Armie and Henry and all the boats criss-crossing each other, I was totally confused - what do I concentrate on, where are they going -they are driving too fast!!! See how the little boat bobs on the waves, I was worried they were going to tip over and fall out at one point.

marliimarl_: For the next set of pics I’m starting from this BEHIND shot ;)

marliimarl_: You will see Henry suddenly clocks that there is a photographer there…ME! He looks around and can see no one else…he is looking at me a lot after this - I was not imagining it, the proof is in the pictures. I guess he was trying to figure out who this female “paparazzi” was. It’s a miracle that I managed to stay focused and it's truly special to know that he was looking at me, into my camera lens. What he was thinking is another thing, let’s not think too much about that and focus on the scene…

marliimarl_: And with that, round one was over. Round two I filmed! It was dark and far away but know that Armie and Henry were in the boats and I believe it was Henry that cut this scene short. I think he shouted "it's too fast" or something.

They reset and started round 3. Between takes, they had to wait for the water to lie completely still so there was a few minutes wait between each take for the waves and foam to settle.

This round is truly special to watch. It looks like they were coming STRAIGHT at me, as if I was the main camera. What would you have done?! I kept on shooting whilst I was in complete and utter shock - what a lucky strike! Coming closer and closer...

marliimarl_: Then they ended up to the right of me, quite close. It’s dark but you can still see their faces...

marliimarl_: Then they whizzed right past me. I didn’t even manage to react to reset my camera for closer shots so a bit of motion blur here, you get the picture though.They were CLOSE!

marliimarl_: HERE WE GO AGAIN!

marliimarl_: Love this next picture!

marliimarl_: Well hello there, Solo?! What you looking at?!

marliimarl_: The next position they took was just perfect…I could hear Henry’s voice right next to me at this stage.

marliimarl_: I have a feeling Solo might have fallen off the boat, as he was suddenly not in it. I could not see this happen, whether it was an accident or on purpose I have no idea. I definitely couldn’t see him.

marliimarl_: After this they had a break and it was so late I just couldn’t stay any longer. I was cold, frozen to the bone, so I can’t imagine what Henry and Armie must have felt like, driving around on that boat at high speed.

What an experience and pure delight it was to watch! I think they ended up shooting this in various angles and takes maybe 6-10 times, some short and some with just Armie and half with Henry. I was so happy I could have squealed and jumped around with delight.

I can’t WAIT to see the movie now that I have been following the sets for such a long time.
