Bring On 2017: Cheers To The New Year!

In the last hours of 2016, we would first like to offer our deepest thanks to Henry and his team for allowing us to cover and bring you interviews from the various charity events he participated in this year. We're also very grateful to Durrell Wildlife and The Royal Marines Charity for their hospitality and generosity. After seeing first hand the difference these charities make, we can sincerely say supporting Henry in these causes has been the most gratifying work for us, and it wouldn't be possible without your reposts and retweets and comments and emails.. so THANK YOU for your contribution. Finally, a huge thanks to Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment for facilitating some of the coolest coverage we've done this year.

Since we started HCN back in April of 2013, our focus has been to give fans a chance to be part of a supportive community for Henry, while bringing you the latest news on his projects and whatever else he wants to share with the world. That will hopefully continue to be the case in 2017 when there is so much to look forward to, including the return of The Durrell Challenge, as well as the release of  Justice League and Sand Castle.

Cheers to the New Year!

All Best,

HCN staff.

Everything Henry: End Of The Year Mentions

The mentions for Henry and his projects keep coming, as we look ahead to 2017.

Henry's participation in The Durrell Challenge, is among the highlights in Durrell's end of the year wrap. And you can now register for next year's run! -->> doitfordurrell.com.

Right now Henry is offering fans a chance to hang out with him in London.. Omaze reminding everyone of that incredible fun opportunity that's supporting The Royal Marines Charity.

The buzz for Justice League also keeps growing!

And Henry is in good company, after being listed among Just Jared's 25 Most Popular Actors of 2016.

"We are getting ready for the new year by recapping the top celebs of the past year, as determined by our readers. All of the rankings that we post in our recaps are based on statistics grabbed from reader interaction via pageviews, comments, and more."

The people who put together The 100 Most Handsome Faces of 2016 gave him a spot on their list as well (at about 4:38).

With Henry listed among the top ten grossing actors of 2016, we'd say this has been a pretty good year for him.. certainly worked hard enough for it!

Congratulations, Henry.

Forbes: Henry Among Highest Grossing Actors Of 2016

Forbes has released its list of top grossing actors of 2016, and Henry comes in at #7, right behind Ben Affleck and Amy Adams!

This is how the list was compiled:

"To calculate the ranking of top-grossing actors, we added up the 2016 global ticket sales of top actors’ films released this year, using data from Box Office Mojo as of December 27, 2016. We did not count animated movies where only actors' voices were used and only included actors who were top-billed and/or had the most screen time."

Justice League will mark the return of Superman, and Henry will also reprise his superhero role in a second standalone film. The excitement is already building for both.

And we don't even know what else he's planning.. here's to a productive 2017.

Henry Attends 'Cirque Du Soleil' Show In South Florida

No matter what production they put on, you can count on Cirque Du Soleil to entertain you with their whimsical acts. Tonight Henry attended a performance of Kurios in South Florida, and as you can see he had a good time.

The internet is still very much abuzz over his Christmas Day post with Dwayne Johnson, where he hinted at a battle to come beween Supes and Black Adam. Today Johnson shared a bit more on their meet-up.

It's nice to see that whatever injury Henry is recovering from, is not stopping him from enjoying the holidays.

UPDATE 12/28: The circus is ready to take you, Henry!

Henry Hints At Fun Banter Between Supes & Bats In JL

Thanks to @SergioEES for this Total Film preview of Justice League. It includes a new quote from Henry, which hints at a fun rivalry between Supes and Bats:

"There's pretty much an argument between him and Batman as to who is the leader."

We also get some new details from director Zack Snyder and more. Check it out by clicking on the images.

This week Warner Bros. confirmed Lex will definitely be back in Justice League.

The big question of course.. how Superman returns.

Dear Universe, if you're going to protect anyone, HELLO.. SUPERMAN.

Good thing Kal is there to comfort Henry, because that injury looks like a major ouch.

Right before Christmas.. while he's been busy spreading holiday cheer.

SERIOUSLY Universe: Cut it out.

Sincerely Not messing around,

Henry's fans xx

Guessing you've already done this, but we're sure your well wishes will go a long way with Henry.

HERE'S HIS FACEBOOK PAGE -- AND HIS INSTAGRAM.

Even Aquaman took the time to send his best to Supes.

Henry responded and followed Jason back on IG.. this is what Christmas is all about: DC Family.

"Get Ready For Something Different" Sand Castle Screenwriter On Henry

As we get closer to 2017, the anticipation for Henry's Sand Castle appearance keeps growing. Earlier this month director Fernando Coimbra spoke about working with Captain Syversonand the experience of filming the Iraq war drama in Jordan. Now screenwriter Chris Roessner has shared a bit more with HCO on Henry's character:

I don’t want to give too much away. His character reveal is so exciting that I’d hate to rob the audience of that. What I will say, is that Syverson is a Special Forces team leader who exists as a character foil to our main platoon. Syverson’s business is war. He is not ‘passing through’ so to speak, like some of the other characters. There is no talk of ‘going home’ or what dreams lie ahead for him. Iraq is where he belongs, he’s been there a while, and he takes the job very seriously. One assumes that after the film ends Syverson would be shipped off somewhere else... Afghanistan, Somalia, etc. to solve the same problems. He is smart, tough, the embodiment of human potential operating at its fullest.

How did Henry Cavill get cast for the role of Captain Syverson?

I know I speak for the Sand Castle team when I say we were all overjoyed to hear Henry wanted to play Syverson. I’d known that his brother was/is a Royal Marine and I’d heard through the grapevine that Henry takes portraying the military very seriously. Obviously, that serious attitude was shared by all of us. No one was interested in being cartoonish, or displaying chest-beating masculinity without nuance. Henry had the same outlook and that made it a perfect fit. He felt the responsibility that we all felt and we were lucky to have him.

What was it about him that made Henry a good match for the role?

Certainly, what I mentioned above. Beyond that, on a surface level, he sure as hell looked the part. I mean the guy is Superman. You’ve seen the films. He’s in ridiculous shape. And these Special Forces soldiers I know, when they aren’t on missions they’re working out. That’s the lifestyle and the body type follows. So that was clear. Then Henry shows up in Jordan and on, like, Day 1 the guy shaves his head. Now, I’ll echo what our director Fernando has said which is that Henry is virtually unrecognizable. That’s true.
Secondly, I’d say that it’s usually the case that actors who take a role ‘against type’ do so carefully, thoughtfully, and passionately. Henry is a busy man, deservedly so, and taking the time to do our film showed a real commitment to something different. I mean, let’s be clear, there is no monetary incentive for anyone to make a war film independently. You have to be in it for the right reasons, for the story, to push yourself beyond your comfort level, to grow. Henry had that attitude and I think people will be very surprised at the performance he delivers. Get ready for something different.

Any funny or interesting stories about Henry's time on the film?

Quite a few. My favorite is from the cast dinner, right before production. So, the whole cast is having a banquet style dinner at a nice restaurant in Amman. Henry’s seated across from me, we’d just met and hadn’t really spoken much, so I was expecting it to be a bit awkward. But the total opposite was true. We started speaking about our families, where we’re from, our upbringing, etc. It was refreshing. Now, to put it in context, I’m from the Rust Belt and the South in the U.S. I don’t get star struck by movie stars, but I do get star struck by good human beings with good values. Henry was that guy from word one. Grounded and decent. We talked a bit about our parents, the hours passed, the dinner was over, and I realized we didn’t mention the movie once. It was great.

You can read the rest of Roessner's interview over at HCO. The film is expected to be released by Netflix in 2017, but no date has been given. We'll keep you posted.

New Justice League Image, BvS Makes Top 10 List

Director Zack Snyder reportedly told a fan last week, that we wouldn't have to wait long for some Justice League news.. and sure enough today we got this awesome new image.

It's pretty obvious by now, that anything that has to do with Supes and his return is being kept under wraps and we totally get it. But it's still kind of a bummer not to see him in the early promo.

Just imagine when he does show up though.. HYPE. And we loooove what Zack Snyder had to say:

"I’m super happy with the chemistry of my league of justice doers."

READ THE REST at Entertainment Weekly.

We're also really excited about Wonder Woman's solo film, and Gal Gadot released a gorgeous new pic that goes with a MUST READ article by Time.

As 2016 comes to an end, Batman v Superman has made IMDb's Top 10 Movies of the Year, along with Suicide Squad which came out on top.

DC is just getting started!.. Congratulations to both films. We can't wait to see Superman's big entrance in Justice League.

Henry Shares A Little 'Peace On Earth'

Henry has been spreading holiday cheer on social media for several days in a row now. Today's post immediately led us back to a comment by our reader Deo, after Henry shared that first Christmas tree pic

"Does he ever prove to NOT be Superman? Him doing this reminds me of the comic "Superman: Peace on Earth", where Supes brought a massive Christmas tree to Metropolis. It's as if the spirit of Superman himself had settled on Henry!"

We're no experts, but you guys are.. and as it turns out this piece was made by Alex Ross for Peace on Earth..

We're sensing a theme.. and we could certainly use a little hope in the world right now.

Thanks, Superman.

Henry Honors Fallen Soldiers At FL Wreath Laying Ceremony

‪"Got to meet Henry Cavill at the wreath laying ceremony today, was a very cool guy."

Steve Sagonas hashtagged his photo, Superman.

As you know, Henry's commitment to The Royal Marines Charity comes from his deep respect for the military and connection to it (he has family members who have served). He feels very strongly about the need to help veterans (he told us about it at the Commando Challenge), and this photo at the Wreaths Across America event only solidifies that. The shirt he's wearing, is also made by a company that supports Veterans.

Go Henry.

P.S. You still have time to register for a chance to meet him in London. The money raised, will go to The RM Charity -- which supports sailors, marines and their families for life.

Zack Snyder's Justice League Tease, More From DC Film World

Zack Snyder/Vero

Director Zack Snyder definitely knows what gets people excited. On Wednesday, he shared this Justice League sneak peek, and the caption seems to hint that he's been busy editing the film.. or could he be preparing the trailer?? it would make for a SUPER Christmas!

Later Zack tweeted this sweet video put together by Jason Momoa, that includes some behind the scenes of Aquaman in action. Make sure to check it out below.

There is a lot going on in the DC movie world, including apparent confirmation that the standalone Batman movie is coming in 2018.

Coupled with news that Justice League Part 2 is now reportedly delayed, it likely means we could see the Superman standalone in 2019. Here's hoping!

Recently Jeremy Irons shared a bit more on his character in Justice League..

And a quick update for those of you who love Harley like we do!

Finally, today is THE LAST DAY to vote for Batman v Superman as Favorite Action Movie at the People's Choice Awards. Let's do this for Supes! VOTE NOW.
