Thank you for contributing to this blog.
I think its so important to participate in this. Even as just one person a difference can be made and the more people who participate the better the outcome for our environment. We are starting by cleaning up litter in wooded and water habitats around our area, using more recyclables and contributing to research and education! AmyLia403@aol.com
ReplyDeleteHere is my feedback
ReplyDeleteOver the years, me and my family have tried to do a lot of things to help save the environment. About 6 years ago, we went vegetarian. Since then, we've tried to cut down on our waste. We recycle more things than we throw away. I re-purpose a lot of things. I've also gone to reusable cups instead of plastic cups when getting a drink out. I believe that making small changes can make a big difference later on.

Good Morning-
ReplyDeleteI participated in the Durrell Challenege this year and it was the most fun I've ever had with a race. Not only did I get to visit the zoo afterwars but I've made some amazing friendships with other women who share my passion.
I help "rewild" by participating in trash pickups along our trails and streams, reduce my impact on the environment by recycling and using reusable bags, declining the use of plastic straws, and donating to worthwhile causes like the Durrell Organization!

I think it is an obligation for everyone to start thinking more about our planet before it is too late, from our places of origin we can help with things like pollution, the care of rivers, forests, mountains, the protection of animals.
ReplyDeleteIf we all help we can start Rewilding our world again.

Anything that I can do to help Durrell, I'll gladly do! They're the best school for conservation I've ever found. So much to be learned from their successes. And the more we support them, the more successful they'll be -- and the more the world can learn about conservation. Let's go!
ReplyDeleteOnce I watched the TED talk of George Monbiot: For more wonder, rewild the world. It's such a fascinating journey. It taught me that it only takes one thing to set off a chain reaction in to the down fall or uprising of an ecosystem. Like it only took a pack of wolves to change the entire ecosystem in the park and it only took a whale to change the marine life. Rewilding can heal not only the living world, but much that is missing in our own lives and giving us hope.I am not an ecologist nor an campaigner, but as an individual, there are loads of things I could do to save the environment and help rewild our world. Like Mr.Cavill's appeal days ago, I am also driving electric car to drastically reduce CO2 emissions.I'm using e-mail instead of paper letter and using the refillable water bottle and reducing plastic. And I do believe small things can make a big difference.
DeleteAnd I'd like to thank Henry and his team and everyone who have taken part in the Durrell Wildlife Conservation. It's such a noble way to help all sorts of species that are in danger and to preserve the environment in which the animals live. A big thank you.

Unfortunately, you can not save the environment on your own, but if everyone does their part, you can do it. I started using plastic straws a few years ago. I do not even give a plastic bag while shopping, but I have a cloth bag. I also take care that my drinks are in glass bottles. what I can contribute to our environment - I doalso. karina_arnold@web.de
ReplyDeleteWe are all custodians of our planet. As a chef, I dedicate myself to only using local, organic, sustainably grown and harvested foods. As a parent, I pass on my dedication to recycling and reuse to my kids. As a lover of nature, I volunteer as a crew leader to Friends of Trees, replanting non-invasive trees and shrubs in Oregon and Washington greenspaces and even in residential communities. I support the Durrell's rewilding strategy, and believe with Henry's continued role as a spokesperson, this movement will only continue to grow. Together, we can make small changes that will add up to a better, healthier world.

A few years ago i became a vegetarian as i believe every life matters and it will make an ecological difference. I also recycle my papers and trying to stay away from plastic items as much as i can. Also use as little water as i can, piling all the laundry and dishes. ecedagdevren@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI have been supporting Durrell for many years now, made several animal adoptions and participated in the Durrell Challenge for two years. I was also fundraising last year and collected more than 500 EUR for Durrell and my fundraising page for this year is still open and I hope to increase the amount as much as I can (https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/anete-beinarovica). Also, I try to shop in zero waste shops, always carry my own water bottle and reusable coffee cup as well as take reusable shopping bags with me wherever I go. I use shampoo soap and a shaving soap that have no packaging to reduce the waste of the beauty products I need. I also try to raise awareness about the Rewild Our World strategy and it has motivated me not only to train and run the Durrell Challenge, but to leave less waste behind me on a daily basis.

I think that in order to begin to repair our world we can start by separating the garbage,
ReplyDeleteUse products that can be reused,
Turn off the lights,
Consume organic fruits and vegetables,
Avoid leaving the appliances plugged in,
Close the taps correctly,
Use the thermostat,
Move in public transport, bring your own bags to the supermarket and plant trees are some of the things we can do to take care of the environment and repair the world although I think there are many more things what can we do reyesgk@hotmail.com
I have been donating to Durrell over the years since Henry Cavill enlightened me about it. This year I also donated to an IG friend I made who did the run! I no longer use plastics of any kind. I recycle, check to make sure whatever I buy is biodegradable. It's a small what I know but I am trying and if everyone were to do small things for conservation it will make a big difference in the end all!
ReplyDeleteI've never participated to the durrel challenge but I would love to maybe one day. This cause means a lot to me even if I'm living in Germany. We all know our environment is suffering day by day because too much species won't exist anymore if we do nothing. These species are important for us and for the mother earth We have to protect it and save it.i will definitely donate for this good cause Thanks for everything what you do. Medinacasa1@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteNext year I am definitely going to the Durell challenge. I think it's such an important cause. In over the years I have started recycle more and more also I always take my own bag to the supermarket don't use plastic etc.as we all know how our environment is suffering day by day. I always say if everyone would just do one thing to save the planet the job would be done.
ReplyDeletemelinda.nemeth@gmail.com
I rewild by no longer using plastic straws/lids, I bring my refillable water bottle wherever I go. I recycle any and everything I can. Grow my own fruits and veggies and ALWAYS use cloth shopping bags.
ReplyDeletephoenix3076@yahoo.com
Buddhism has taught me so much about compassion (for ourselves, fellow humans, animals and mother earth). I have been recycling for about 20yr, i try to avoid plastic whenever possible. I never leave house without reusable bags (or biodegradable doggy bags). My biggest bad habit was running the tap whilst brushing my teeth. Substitute organic products and greatly reduced the amount of meat. All these little things we do daily to help all make a huge difference.

DeleteI feel that you can not save the environment by your self,so if everyone would do something to help it would make a difference.I use reusable bags not plastic ones.I recycle every time.I use the public bus daily . I plant trees and other plants . I do a lot to save the environment and even get others to help to make it grow so we can make a difference. terrimayy21@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteTerri, you are our winner! -- We'll send you an email with details. Congratulations!

ReplyDeleteSaving our environment is so important but saving the animals is also important because of some of the species.
What durrell does is amazing and fantastic not just by saving the animals that are taken care of by the durrell group who nourish them with love and care.
isagashi1@hotmail.com
Recycle, reduce waste, and help by volunteering at organizations like Durrell. Education and spreading the word is key. They more help we have, the better and greater good we can bring about.

DeleteI have never participated in the challenge of durell because I am in Spain and the circumstances do not allow me but I would love to be able to attend to meet Henry and help in the conservation of the zoo and nature I think Henry makes a great effort and great work every year to raise money and I would love to participate and I thank for this possibility of the draw a greeting from Barcelona
ReplyDeleteI am very concerned about the world my children will have to live in. I teach them to pick up any trash they find in their way, we use reusable bags for shopping, take our containers to the supermarket, use metal straws, and always respect any kind of living creature (plants and animals), also to make wise use of water, and we plant and care for trees and other plants, so birds and bees have a shelter.
ReplyDeletelitchi98@yahoo.com
I am so uplifted seeing so many comments about what people are doing about making a low carbon impact on the earth. There is so much gloom and doom about the environment that it's depressing. Hearing about all the above efforts gives me hope. Buy organic and eat plants!
ReplyDeleteI started thinking about the destruction of the environment years ago. I have been supporting the WWF for more than 10 years...and for the first time the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust this year.
ReplyDeleteInstead of plastic bags I use reusable bags for shopping. I only use natural cosmetics, natural and organic shampoo and shower bath.
I think if we all care a little bit of our environment and animals, we can save our planet. But we all have to start with all these small steps.

DeleteFirst of all, I would like to note how important the work of Henry and the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is. You guys are great!
Thanks to TV and the Internet, we can now see the real scale of the pollution of the planet and especially of the oceans.
I recently returned from a trip visiting very beautiful places in my country. On the way home, I enjoyed the beautiful scenery - fields, blooming trees, green hills. And what a shock I experienced when, in the midst of this beauty, I saw a huge landfill - a rubbish dump, and there were plastic bags hanging from trees. This contrast struck me. How our planet suffers, and especially my beautiful country because of the garbage! But the most amazing thing is that people do not understand that all the harmful substances from the garbage come back to them within food, air and water.
I decided to study why in our country they do not struggle with garbage and it turned out that there are even whole groups of people who benefit from it (they can be called mafia), they have profits from landfills. And these people are closer to politicians who make the laws than to people, who still do not realise the harm of environmental pollution. I think we need apply more effort and give more information to people, how their actions affect our world, that people and animals suffer from pollution. In my country, this problem, unfortunately, is not a priority for the authorities. So the people themselves must begin to act.
But the path begins with the first step ... For myself, I decided to replace plastic bags with silk bags (it is not necessary to use new silk), silk has many advantages - it is very light, if you squash silk, it takes very little space up, it dries quickly, durable, easy to dispose of, it is absolutely natural (I know about analogs made of synthetic materials, but again they will be harmful to nature). And I just love silk very much, because it costs a lot of effort in production, and I won’t raise my hand to throw it away, so it's better to put it in handbags for products. I decided to teach my friends to do this practice.
When I saw the real size of the garbage island in the ocean, I imagined an image of Godzilla going to the shore, where an armed army is waiting for him, and he simply gives them a mountain of garbage and goes back to the sea with a sad look. In my opinion, a good idea for a social video (if such a video has not yet been removed) :)
I admire the enthusiasm with which you fight for the preservation of nature and animals!
lencivel@gmail.com
Although I am a student, I always try my best to take part in some donations for animal protection. It is not a big sum but those adorable animals deserve a better future and a more comfortable habitat. For years, I have been taking part in an activity, namely, plant the trees in desert, started by Alibaba. It is definitely one of the greatest activities that I have ever been to.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best things in my life is to know Henry Cavill. He is the one to enlighten me that every bit of effort that we made can be a strong one if we connect them together. We share the world and we live in harmony with other species that we should help them when they are endangered.

Another good movie is Biggest Little Farm. A true story about how this married couple bought a 200 acre farm in California where the soil was completely worn out and regenerated it. It takes 7 years to regenerate an ecosystem. It's all about having good ground cover on soil that is excellent and having the animals go to the bathroom on it and tamp down on the ground. This helps to sequester the carbon.
DeleteI am helping our rewild our world by making sure others know about the endangered animals and why they are going extinct. Do to poaching and black market selling!

Thank You Mr. Cavill for raising awareness through Your involvement in Durell! If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't even know for it. As an family of engineers in our little village there is so much we do for our nature's park Kopacki rit and its species - recycle, grow our own garden, buy supplies from local farmers, teach our kids to do the same.
ReplyDeleteBest regards from beautiful Croatia!

I like the idea of reconnecting people with nature. We should be more sensitive about the different issues nature is facing because of our behaviour. We must recognise our negative impact on nature and reajust to an eco-friendly society. If each one of us could look in the same direction we could stop mass consumption, just by doing simple little actions one at a time such as growing our own garden or buy with local farmers... It is so peaceful to have a garden and it is good for the health to spend some time there each day. When some of my trees are blooming we can hear the sweet humming of bees. Even when living in a flat one can grow different vegetables,... you just need some imagination or search the net to find some DIY ideas. In my country there's a little bird called tuit tuit (Coracina newtoni) that is critically endangered. I'm going to join an association as a volunteer to help protect it and I have other plans about it too... beatricemarielebon@gmail.com
