It's going to be really hard to watch Season 3 of The Witcher knowing Henry will not continue playing Geralt. But the show's executive producer is promising a proper sendoff. Read the details at EW.
'The Witcher' showrunner says season 3 is "the most heroic sendoff that we could have" for star Henry Cavill before the Geralt recasting, "even though it wasn't written to be that." https://t.co/rBZ50qRLf9

He didn't need a heroic send off hr need it them to stay accurate to the source material and him complete the series. Don't care what that liar Showrunner has to say, not watching. I'm sure Geralt will be the best of the season as always but I'm watching a month later. S4 deserves to be axed or be a 4 episodes long. Nothing more. Henry was done dirty.
ReplyDeleteTime of Contempt is my favorite book of the series, so I hope the adaptation at least for Geralt's arc is decent. The book does leave off in a pretty cliff-hangery spot, though, so I wonder how the end of the season will be handled knowing Cavill is leaving.
ReplyDeleteIn the books I did notice a change in Geralt's character between ToC and BoF, because of what happens in ToC. If I were writing the show, I'd try and use that as a natural dividing point between Cavill-Geralt and Hemsworth-Geralt. Just my two cents, who knows what they will do?
With all the drama going on, I'm undecided as to future interest in the show, but I'm still here for S3 because Cavill =)
Also, Lauren has finally said something acknowledging Henry's hard work. I guess late is better than never.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear more about Henry's Warhammer project. I know nothing of that world, so I won't go in with any preconceptions. But I will always miss Geralt.
But I wonder if Lauren/Netflix are also the "anonymous source" behind the slanderous articles floating around...
DeleteHenry is Geralt, Henry carried the show, he was done dirty cause the writers and their ego couldn't handle that people were watching for him and not the showrunners amazing ideas. The show will suffer after his absence, that's certain. If s2 was unbearable (minus Geralt and ciri bc Henry didn't let them destroy them) just wait s4 when there will be no fan in the creative team. And s4 Geralt is different says the showrunnner? Bc I remember her twitting that she read the books multiple times and she hadn't realize that Geralt suffered from chronic pains in his leg and shoulder after what happened to thanedd. That's how good she knows the characters and the story. I can't wait blood origin to tank and s4 to be an eternal joke.
ReplyDeleteYa know, now that I've read the books... how can you not realize that Geralt had chronic pain, up until Toussaint? It's not like it was a one-liner thrown in undercover, it was mentioned many times. Speaking from past injury, chronic nerve pain is no joke.
DeleteThe send off the writers and Lauren will get after BO and s4 will be from the back door to go work to a fast food (that was not against people working on fast foods or any other job, there are some amazing people there). Henry will get a heroic send off by the audience who the show will never see again. Bye.
ReplyDeleteWhen will Lauren and her team of incompetent writers will get a humiliating send off? That's all I care. And when Netflix will sell the rights of the ip to some competent network and start over (why not with Henry?).
ReplyDeleteShe begs us to watch. No that's I'm unsibcribing from Netflix and never support a project of her again. She deserves all the backlash she'll get. If only she listened to Henry after the joke that was s2 we wouldn't be here. I doubt any fan will watch her series. And if they watch s3 (I won't because I don't want the project to get a s5) it will be for Henry and then s4 ratings will be rock bottom.
ReplyDeleteThey even used geralt's doppelganger idea to jaskier. (plus all the other stories they cut for him) Everything to make geralt less important. I'm not supporting anything Lauren Witcher. I hope it burns and dies.
ReplyDeleteMy honest opinion: Lauren, on top of being unable to understand the underlying messages of the Witcher or connect with this world and its fans, she has a huge ego and that will be her undoing. Ex directors and producers left bc their opinions weren't heard. An example is Alik Shakarov who wanted a more character driven show with slower pace. Lauren instead of listen to the voices that knows the source material inside out she chose to write s2. She had the best asset, a fan favorite actor with deep knowledge and a huge fan base who everyone's agree he was the perfect geralt but she chose her ego instead of listen to his suggestions which - the few she listened- were the fan favorites of the season. As a result the criticism for BO is bad and if a miracle doesn't happened (and it won't bc that miracle left bc of her) the critics and fans will burn s4 to the ground. It's sad things turned out this way bc Netflix had an easy success in their hands but she never understood the source material or cared about anyone's else's opinion .
ReplyDeleteIt's really sad what happened with the Witcher. They had everything, everything to make it the biggest Netflix show, even with its flaws s1 was well received by the fans, all they had to do was listen to the criticism for s1 from the people who love and understand these books and s2 could be the best in history of TV (maybe I exaggerate) but idk what happened, if it was ego, greed, overconfidence or what else and that opportunity was lost. I'm really sorry bc this world, the books, and the actors deserved better.
DeleteIt is really sad, the show was my introduction to the witcher world, though now I'm really enjoying the books and games. My gut instinct is to say that ... I don't know if it was a clash of egos, but certainly of personalities; from Lauren's twitter responses to fans, she doesn't handle criticism/questioning that well, which probably is also true when a dedicated and passionate coworker tries to make suggestions to make a scene more accurate. I'm less affronted by the changes in the show, though, as to how Lauren/Netflix has been hinting that Henry is somehow at fault for all the show's shortcomings, when that couldn't be farther from the truth. He was the best part of the show, and the only thing that held it together.

ReplyDeleteRead this great re: very intersting on Henry Cavill leaving the Witcher
The one thing I’m glad of is that the absolutely easy to see through slanderous lies some a-hat tried to start about Henry crashed and burned so fast it barely even breathed at all because of how untrue they were. They couldn’t get anyone to back it up, because everyone on set clearly loved him and he treated everyone with the respect they deserved. And that was well documented. You can’t pay that many people off on a set that big, so obviously if it was true we would know about it. Having a difference of opinion on something and communicating that honestly and respectfully isn’t misogynistic. It’s laughable anyone would even try to make that claim. And if it is true that Henry asked for less nudity, if anything, that should make actresses love him more because he’s said multiple times in interviews it’s even more uncomfortable for the woman in those kinds of scenes than the man; and that he feels like honestly it generally adds nothing to the overall story and most times just comes across like you’re going for the cheap shot for the views. That’s not being a difficult actor, it’s actually very true. So, if that is based in any truth, it actually is showing his compassion and respect for women in the industry. Truly whoever thought anyone would back them up on their attempts to cancel him are the dumbest people in the world. But on the notes of the Witcher show, Netflix has no one to blame but Lauren and her team of friends who refused to acknowledge that what they were doing was wrong for the show. Henry is not to blame for the backlash, they are. They could have listened and tried to make it more accurate to the source material but they didn’t. They wanted her glorified fanfic. Well enjoy it lady.
ReplyDeleteTHE WITCHER JUST CANT BE THE SAME Without Henry as Geralt BIG BIG mistake the producers and writers should have begged him to stay given him whatever he asked for
ReplyDeleteMe encanta la composición comprometida y sin vicios que realiza con su personajes! Excelenteeee! Cariños!😇🥰
